"This work is unlike any other, in its range of rich, conjuring imagery and its dexterity, its smart voice. Carroll-Hackett doesn’t spare us—but doesn’t save us—she draws a blueprint of power and class with her unflinching pivot: matter-of-fact and tender." —Jan Beatty

The Revolution (Relaunch) Seeks Socially Engaged Writing

The Revolution (Relaunch) is a revisionary, radical, and creative resurgence of the women’s rights newspaper founded by Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony (1868-1872).

If you’re inspired to produce evocative, first-person, social-justice oriented writing—sexual, racial, economic, border-related, or other—then we’d love the opportunity to read your work. Monday Must Read! The Soul’s Journey to Its Destiny by Swami Ashokananda

soul's journey

In this illuminating book, Swami Ashokananda traces the decent of the individual from his true divine status to his present condition and describes his ascent back to God. He explains how the various aspects of one’s relative existence can be instrumental in the realization of his perfect being, which, in fact, he has never lost. The matter discussed herein is, in short, an explanation of the involution and evolution of the soul. One finds in these pages the Vedantic answers to many of the big questions that we have asked since we first started asking. It provides not only an intellectual understanding of the soul’s journey, but also practical counsels on how to speed it along.

Daily Prompt Love <3 Bible Says What?

30 June 2019

My focus in studying Anthropology was cross-cultural perspectives of religions, with a specific eye toward where the origin of Christianity intersected with Judaism. I am not a Biblical scholar, but I know a little.

Thinking on how many times the Christian Bible has been translated, rewritten, revised. Looking to the Old Testament, even the major religions can’t agree on how many books should be included. The Jews have 24 books, the Protestants 39, the Catholics 46, and the Eastern Orthodox have 51.   And contemporary scholars believe there are between 300,000 and 400,000 different versions of the New Testament. There are more different versions of the New Testament than there are words in it.

Make art about what’s lost in translation.
