"This work is unlike any other, in its range of rich, conjuring imagery and its dexterity, its smart voice. Carroll-Hackett doesn’t spare us—but doesn’t save us—she draws a blueprint of power and class with her unflinching pivot: matter-of-fact and tender." —Jan Beatty

Friday Call for Submissions Love! K’in Still Reading for Inaugural Issue

K’in wants to read your beautiful work!

Submission Details

Prose: 5000 words or less, open to content, form, structure.

Fiction: We welcome short stories of all shapes and sizes, from the mind-blowing traditional story to fiction that blurs the lines between forms, genre fiction, experimental fiction, etc. We also welcome flash and micro fiction.

Nonfiction: We’re looking for slow burns in a world of hot takes, questions asked instead of answers proved. We welcome a wide variety of nonfiction—traditional essay, narrative nonfiction, micro/flash memoir—and encourage experimentation, though not at the expense of factual truth. Too many true stories go untold, and we want to offer space to honor those voices.

Poetry: 3-5 poems, open to content, form, structure. Please don’t forget the power voice, sound, and time can have in poetry.

For all submissions, simultaneous submissions are permitted, but please let us know. To withdraw one part of a submission, please add a note in Submittable so that the information is instantly available to all editors. We will not process emailed withdrawal requests.
Experimental, traditional, playful, prayerful, celebratory, challenging: human—try us. Show us a new way to tell one of the millions of stories under that glorious sun.

Call for Submissions Love <3 FAWLT Magazine Seeking Work on Dependence & Other Flaws

Call for Submissions: FAWLT MAGAZINE

DEADLINE: For Dependence: March 15, 2018.

For all other faults: rolling submissions.

FAWLT magazine is an online, quarterly journal seeking short stories, poems, essays, photographs, and animated works that deal with human flaws.

Each issue of the magazine will focus on a single, undesirable characteristic, exploring such issues as: who is affected by it, the impact on individuals, in which circumstances it can be especially bad (or actually good), and any other aspect of the flaw that that may be worth investigating.

Their call:
We seek previously unpublished prose, poetry, and art that incorporate these characteristics in funny or sobering ways. Ultimately Fawlt hopes to offer an entertaining look at human frailty and a serious consideration of some of our more unpleasant traits. Please do not send more than three prose pieces or
five poems at a time.

Now actively taking submissions for their next issue: DEPENDENCE

We’re also considering submissions for other faults including:

~  PERFECTIONISM   ~   APATHY   ~   ARROGANCE   ~

While we have no problem with simultaneous submissions, please notify us immediately if your submitted work is published elsewhere

Guidelines:
EMAIL: Please send submissions to fiction(at)fawltmag.com (replace (at) with @)poetry(at)fawltmag, or artandphoto(at)fawltmag, depending on your category (replace (at) with @). Please indicate, in the subject line, which flaw your work addresses.

Daily Prompt Love x 2

8 February 2018

I tell my students that writers don’t write because they have answers; they write because they have questions.

Make a list of your questions, what you wish you could ask other people, friends, family,  what you want to ask the world. If you could spray paint a single question on a public wall in ten foot tall letters, what would that question be?

Make art inspired by or composed of your questions.
