Now accepting submissions of poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction
Prose submissions must be under 5,000 words. Flash fiction submissions must be no more than 1000 words individually. Novel excerpts are acceptable, but must be able to stand alone. For poetry, please submit no more than three poems in a single document. For flash fiction, please submit no more than three pieces in a single document.

Each issue of About Place Journal, the arts publication of the Black Earth Institute, focuses on a specific theme.
“From 6/1 to 8/1 we’ll be accepting submissions for our Fall 2019 issue Infinite Country: Deepening Our Connection to Place, Culture and One Another. Our mission: to have art address the causes of spirit, earth, and society; to protect the earth; and to build a more just and interconnected world. We publish prose, poetry, visual art, photography, video, and music which fit the current theme.”

“We accept poetry, fiction, nonfiction, art, and hybrids. For everyone else, please do not let this deter you from submitting. We want your work, too!”
To be considered for the Summer issue, please submit by June 10th. All other submissions will be considered for the Winter 2020 issue.
